Montella returned to Florence for the first time since his bitter split from the Viola and he traded insults with patron Della Valle again this weekend.
“I received a wonderful welcome from the fans and I thank them from the heart. We had some fantastic years together and achieved great things, but also some disappointments, as is the case in football.
“I haven’t had a chance to see Della Valle, but I hope to do so in future. Considering the rapport we had, it deserved a different epilogue.
“For the moment we have not cleared the air, but that is not my decision. I hope we can do in future.”
