“It is an honour for us to take part in this game, both for the players and the club,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“Warsaw is a beautiful city, we are playing against Real Madrid in a great stadium. I am sure the match will live up to expectations.
“As always, we will try to play well and with humility also try to win. We know what we are capable of. Fiorentina prepare for every game the same way and rely on our idea of football, even against a great side like Real Madrid.
“Which player do I fear the most? There are too many to choose from, so I’ll say their Coach, Carlo Ancelotti.”
Fiorentina caused controversy by leaving Cuadrado and Facundo Roncaglia behind for this game, but Montella assured this had nothing to do with potential transfers.
“We told the truth. Cuadrado and Roncaglia are suspended for the first Serie A game of the season, so there was no sense in bringing them here.”
Giuseppe Rossi won’t be taking part against Real Madrid either, as he picked up a thigh injury in training.
The Viola boss was also asked about the appointment of Antonio Conte as the new Italy Coach.
