Vincenzo Montella is one of the top candidates to become the next head coach of the Turkey national team, reports detail.

The 49-year-old Italian, who previously managed Fiorentina and Milan, spent the last two seasons working with Adana Demirspor, averaging 1.72 points per match across 76 total matches. He shined in his second campaign, guiding them to fourth in the league table.

Turkey’s current coach is Stefan Kuntz, but pressure has started to mount on the German and he could be shown the door in the coming weeks, prompting the FA to start sounding out alternatives.

As reported by TMW, the Turkish FA have identified Montella as a strong candidate and are now in talks with the Italian coach, who is out of work following his exit from Adana Demirspor back in June.

Turkey are in a strong position in their Euro 2024 qualifying group, sitting tied on points with Croatia at the top of Group D, three ahead of tied third Armenia and Wales.
