Viola technical director Eduardo Macia knows the Spaniard well given that he worked alongside him at Valencia and then Liverpool.
“Benitez’s most precious qualities are his ability, preparation and the will to win,” Macia told the Corriere dello Sport ahead of tonight’s Serie A meeting between the two clubs.
“He is very instructional with his players and his ideas, when it comes to football, are outside of the box.
“I see these qualities again in Montella who has ability, is well prepared and has ambitions to grow. If he continues on this path then he will also become a winner.”
Montella, 39, is in his second season at Fiorentina after past coaching spells at Roma and Catania.
