Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella insists the quest for Europa League football ‘is not done’ despite a 3-0 win over Parma.

The Viola defeated the Ducali this evening to put themselves clear in fifth place with just two matches of the season remaining.

“It’s a step forward, but it’s not done,” Montella said after the match.

“We need more points, Genoa are behind us and we have to think about the League. We have to maintain this fifth place, which would be a good achievement.

“We need to win the next two games to get fifth and consolidate what we’ve done these last few years, the squad deserves it."

The Coach had previously attacked the club’s fans, but struck a more diplomatic tone tonight.

“I must say, before the match the fans showed they were behind us, as they have in the past. That’s what I expect.

“I’m happy that the team won, and that they won over the fans.”

That schism with the support has led to speculation that the former striker could leave at the end of the season, and Montella hinted he could leave if he’s not wanted.

“I’ll have to sit down and evaluate things with the club, so we can make plans together, with the same objectives," Montella said cryptically.

“If there’s no future for me here then I’m fine at home. We’ll see what plans and philosophies we have in common.”
