Vincenzo Montella expects to see a “determined” Fiorentina against Guingamp in the Europa League with Marko Marin.

It kicks off in France tomorrow at 18.00 GMT and the Viola have already qualified for the next phase.

“I was happy with the attitude of the team against Verona and for the players who until now had not been used as much,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

“I saw a determined side, a quality we need to push forward over time. It can’t just be in one match, but throughout the season.

“It is difficult to play midweek games, especially as we’ve got three away matches in a row, so I left a few players and staff members at home to prepare for Cagliari. This is modern football and we have many collaborators precisely to face these problems.

“I will field my best line-up tomorrow because I want to win. We are getting to know each other more and more over time, so I try to change as little as possible, albeit accepting some adjustments are necessary."

Fiorentina beat Guingamp 3-0 back in September, but the French side went down to 10 men after 38 minutes.

“Guingamp are a positive team whose approach is to score more than their opponents. They love to press forward with fast and very intense wingers. These qualities must force us to run some calculated risks so we can hurt them. In some senses they are similar to our next Serie A opponents Cagliari.”

Marin arrived on loan from Chelsea over the summer, but has barely featured due to fitness issues.

“Marko is growing and has very important qualities. We will see him on the pitch tomorrow, but I don’t know for how long,” noted Montella.

“He is a player who started out wide, but can also play behind the strikers. A lot depends on the attitude of the team overall. As far as we are concerned, he’s more of a provider of through balls than a winger.”
