“It’s true that some things didn’t go well against Atalanta and it was right to change, but we also have this squad in order to have options.
“The Coach decided who was ready to play this evening and has the alternatives at his disposal,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.
Javier Pastore becomes a trequartista with Schick as a support striker to Edin Dzeko.
“Schick is still young, he had a wonderful season at Sampdoria and stepped up to a club with more pressure. I think this year he arrived better physically and psychologically, so we can hopefully see the results on the pitch. We’ve all got a lot of confidence in him.
“It’s true that we got some things wrong on Monday and had to make adjustments to the defensive movements, so the Coach chose to go with three at the back.”
