“I expect the team to play close to what it did in recent games, but above all I expect them to remain concentrated for the entire match,” the director told Sky Sport Italia.

“We spoke over the last few days about dips in concentration and mentality. The time has come to be focused for the entire 90 minutes and not drift out of the game at any moment.”

This is another big test for Schick, who has so far failed to deliver on his promise, but playing in the Czech Republic could be a bonus.

“I expect Schick to bring out that player within him. He’s waiting for it to happen too and hopefully he can get a great performance on his home turf.

“Javier Pastore has great capabilities too and we’re waiting to see him get back to his best now that he has recovered.”

Monchi also spoke to Roma TV about the conditions in Plzen.

“The snow is starting to become a problem, because it is now sticking to the turf. We hope it won’t be an influence, but it’s true we’re going to have to take it into consideration.

“Every game is important, so it might not count for the group, but it does for our confidence. There is also the prestige of the club at stake.

“There are many reasons to motivate the squad.”
