Atalanta have missed out on signing Liverpool wide attacker Takumi Minamino, as it’s reported AS Monaco agreed a €15m transfer.

The 27-year-old Japan international plays primarily on the left side of the attack, but can also work on the right or in a trequartista role behind a centre-forward.

According to Footmercato, Ligue 1 outfit Monaco have clinched a deal with Liverpool worth €15m.

Atalanta had been in the running for Minamino too, but unlike Monaco they have not qualified for Europe in the current campaign and that may well have proved decisive in the transfer tussle.

He scored 10 goals in only 22 competitive appearances for Liverpool this season, averaging a goal every 89 minutes on the pitch.

He was purchased from RB Salzburg in January 2020 for €8.5m and had a loan spell at Southampton for six months in 2021.

His contract at Anfield was set to run until June 2024.

Meanwhile, Monaco have sold striker Pietro Pellegri to Torino after his loan spell at a cost of €4.5m plus bonuses.
