Cristian Molinaro has spoken of his happiness at having secured a move to Parma and his willingness to impress new Coach Roberto Donadoni.

The 30-year-old defender completed a transfer from German outfit Stuttgart on Thursday and today told journalists of his hunger to have success with the Emilia-Romagna club.

“I’m very happy to be here,” he stated to reporters gathered.

“I wanted to come as soon as possible despite a few complications we had getting the paperwork and the formalities done.

“Thankfully I’m here, now I can’t wait to get into training with my teammates and make myself part of the boss’ plans as soon as possible.

“I have great memories of Germany but I now return to Italy voluntarily. Parma are a side who in recent years have shown that they are always very competitive.

“They are having an excellent season, there is a lot of good quality in this squad and I am happy to be able to give my contribution. I have found a very united team here.”

Molinaro added that although he is not yet 100 per cent match fit he would be ready to come straight into the side if called upon.

“I’m not at my absolute peak,” he said. “I’ve missed playing on Sundays but I’ve had the chance to play in a few friendlies recently and I’ve always trained my hardest.

“If the boss wants me to play then I am more than ready.”
