A variety of international sources, including Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport and the UK's Daily Mirror, agree that the 30-year-old is in doubt for Croatia's last group game against Spain.

Should the Croatians qualify as second in Group D, they will face the Azzurri in the Last 16. At the moment there is no certainty on whether Modric will be in a condition to play that game, though he will probably be available if he is rested against Spain. In his absence, Coach Ante Cacic will likely field Mateo Kovacic.

Mandzukic on the other hand appears to be doing fine, and should be on the pitch against La Roja.
