Joao Miranda insists he “will stay at Inter even without Champions League football,” despite Chelsea and Manchester United interest.
The 31-year-old Brazilian centre-back arrived from Atletico Madrid in June, on loan with mandatory option to buy for a total of €16m.
“It has been a positive year for me,” he told Globoesporte in Brazil. “Even though I moved to a different League, I was able to maintain a very high level.

“It has been a positive year for me,” he told Globoesporte in Brazil. “Even though I moved to a different League, I was able to maintain a very high level.
“Inter signed a lot of new players, so some ups and downs are normal, but I still believe in our chances of qualifying for the Champions League. It’s a strong squad and I am certain that when we find consistency, we can fight it out with any team in Europe.
“I had a wonderful time at Atletico Madrid, but I wanted a change and to challenge myself. Inter are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I am someone who likes a challenge.
“I want Inter to get back to being the club they always were, playing in the Champions League and challenging for important trophies.”
Miranda scored only one goal for Inter and that was with Jose Mourinho in the stands, sparking speculation the Portuguese tactician wanted him for his future club.
“I am glad he appreciated my football. Mourinho is a winner, so he deserves my respect, but my thoughts are to end the season well and win trophies with this jersey.
“Could I leave Inter if they fail to qualify for the Champions League? No, I don’t think so. I am focused on giving my best. If Inter don’t get back into the Champions League this season, it’ll certainly happen next year.
“I am not thinking of changing clubs at this moment.”
