Arkadiusz Milik is facing between three and four months out after successful knee surgery, according to Napoli’s head physio Alfonso De Nicola.

Milik went under the knife on Monday morning to correct the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, sustained while on international duty with Poland, and De Nicola is hopeful the striker will be back playing early next year.

“Regarding recovery time, I want to be optimistic,” he was quoted as saying by Il Mattino.

“It’ll be shorter than what we’ve said out of precaution, say three, three-and-a-half months, but hopefully it’ll be much less.

“In January, we should see him running on the pitches at Castel Volturno [Napoli’s training complex], then we’ll evaluate him.

“Of course we don’t want to force his recovery, but we’ll work to get him back at his best.”
