“The last five years have been difficult. It’s a club in transition,” Shevchenko told Marca.

“They’ve tried to find the Coach and the right players and the owners are investing more money. The enthusiasm is coming back.

“The victory against Lazio was a great result. In football, you have to work hard to return to positive results.

“In the past 25 years Milan have been one of the greatest clubs in the world, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

“We’re talking about giants. Everyone has a transitional period but I’m sure Milan will return soon and we’ll see a very strong team.”
