Atalanta midfielder Daniele Baselli says he was too nervous to even eat when he heard Milan were interested in him.

The 22-year-old was close to moving to the Rossoneri on transfer deadline day, but in the end his current club decided not to sell.

It is thought that a deal will be completed in the summer, but Baselli says he’ll give his all for Atalanta until then.

“I’m happy to have stayed, and I hope to do very well in the coming months,” the Italian Under-21 international told Bergamo TV.

“It was a busy Monday [transfer deadline day], even I didn’t know what would happen.

“Milan? I struggled to even eat, I was a bit anxious, but in the end I was calm, even when I knew the deal was complicated.

“This is my home, and I’ll give my all for the next six months.”
