Sinisa Mihajlovic is confident Sampdoria can give Roma a good run for their money. “We’ll press them hard.”

The Serie A tie kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 19.45 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“So far we haven’t been able to beat one of the big clubs, but tomorrow night could be the right opportunity,” smiled the Coach in his Press conference.

“We are going there to play our game. If we let Roma play with their usual style, then it’ll be tough for us, but if we press them hard it will be very difficult for them. For example, they struggled against Napoli when out of possession.

“We won’t change our mentality. As I’ve said before, the result is important, but the performance even more so. The Giallorossi are practically perfect on home turf, but if we play the way we can then we’ll cause them problems.”

Roma are fresh from a 3-0 Coppa Italia hammering at the hands of Napoli, but in Serie A their home record this season has been extraordinary.

Rudi Garcia’s men won nine and drew two here, scoring 27 goals and conceding only two.

“All teams have strengths and weaknesses. I try to give my men the message that any game can be won,” continued Mihajlovic.

“Garcia’s side plays good football and has confidence, so I’m glad to see a team that doesn’t go out just to defend. Garcia and Rafa Benitez play to win.

“There’s a lot more focus on tactics in Italy than in other countries. That’s what makes Serie A the most difficult League in the world.”

Maxi Lopez and Francesco Totti are both out injured tomorrow evening.

Mihajlovic confessed this week he is a Lazio supporter, so is this like a derby for him?

“Since I came to Samp, my only derby has been with Genoa. I want to win every game, regardless of who it is against.”
