For a while the news agencies all over Italy claimed a Press release was imminent to confirm this, but it seems they have chosen not to make such a formal stand.
It represents a surprise, as Mihajlovic is not particularly popular among the Viola supporters.
This represents the second snub for Inter, as Marcelo Bielsa already turned down the job “due to personal reasons.”
General manager Ernesto Paolillo told Bloomberg: "Leonardo has left Inter and is heading to Paris. We are now looking for a new Coach."
Now the options are limited, so it's reported the Nerazzurri could attempt to prise Villas-Boas away from Europa League winners Porto.
It won't be easy, as the 33-year-old Portuguese tactician is also of interest to Chelsea.
As for Porto, he has a €15m buy-out clause in his contract, but that would be void if the club sold star striker Falcao.
Therefore, if Inter were to spend the money on Falcao, they'd effectively save on breaking Villas Boas out of his contract too.
