Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is feeling stronger every day after battling leukaemia with a bone marrow transplant. ‘Hopefully, the worst is behind me.’

The Serbian tactician was diagnosed a year ago and today stood up at the Stadio Dall’Ara as the testimonial for a campaign seeking bone marrow donors.

“It’s such a small thing for the donor, but imagine the feeling of knowing you saved someone’s life,” said Mihajlovic.

“It’s such a small thing for the donor, but imagine the feeling of knowing you saved someone’s life,” said Mihajlovic.

“I am feeling good now, I feel stronger than before. It’s been almost seven months since the transplant, so hopefully the worst is behind me. It’ll take a year until I can return to normality, even if it differs from person to person.

“Nowadays I can run 10km, lift weights, and there were moments when I was tired, so it’s important to listen to your body and do only what feels right, don’t try to be a hero.”
