“I don’t want to say anything about my future, but on Sunday I will sit down with the club and we will decide what will happen,” he said at his Press conference.

“Tomorrow’s game with Napoli will be an important one, we could possibly finish in the top half of the table. It would be a miraculous turnaround for not only Bologna, but for Italian football.

“After the match with Empoli we thought we were safe, but we had to wait until the Lazio game to make sure of it.”

Bologna were stuck in the relegation zone when Mihajlovic took over from Pippo Inzaghi, transforming their performances and results.

“It wasn’t easy, we always seemed to play after our rivals and were aware of their results. The boys helped each other, there was no specific leader, it was a real team effort.

“I would also like to thank my backroom staff, as without their help we wouldn’t have been able to avoid relegation in the manner we did.”
