The Blucerchiati defeated Sassuolo 2-1 away yesterday evening to move up to ninth in the table and reach the traditional target of 40 points.

“With this victory we are saved from relegation, we can now set ourselves new goals,” Mihajlovic has considered post-match.

“And I am convinced that if we play like we did three days ago [against Verona], and like here, then we can take away further satisfaction. The boys have always trained well, I know that those in the field will always give their best.

“We could finish above Genoa? There is respect, they are a very good team and whilst we will try to take as many points as possible, our goal is not to finish ahead of them.

“If we have won all these games then it is because we have more goals than our opponents – since I arrived we have tried to play to win, not to not lose.

“I am very confident, we do not limit ourselves – winning teaches you to win.

“What would have been if I was here at the start of the season? Perhaps I’d have been sacked after five rounds…”
