The Serb has taken the Blucerchiati to third place in Serie A for the October international break thanks to an unbeaten start to the season.

It is work that has one of the Coach’s former teammates at Marassi from the 1990s praising his approach with his players.

“He is a frank and sincere man. He was as a player and he is even now that he is on the bench,” Serena has explained to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

“Growing up you do not lose certain attitudes. I see in Sampdoria’s players the human values of Sinisa. He is a person who carries out his beliefs without paying much attention to the opinion of the public.

“He has been very good to make people understand his way of being without imposing himself.

“This is the best key to make inroads in the minds of the players. And he has succeeded to perfection.

“The relationship with Ferrero? As they say, opposites attract. The rationality and firmness of Sinisa has immediately found itself alongside the flair of Ferrero.

“He is a volcanic President but has married his ideas to those of the Coach. I have seen that there is a nice accord, certainly fuelled by the positive momentum of the results.”

Manolo Gabbiadini is a notable performer for Samp this term and has netted three times from the opening six rounds, whilst is proving a danger from set-play situations.

“I don’t think you can teach a player how to take a free-kick. These are things that you must have in your blood. But it is also said that Sinisa is a great teacher.

“Gabbiadini definitely has great quality and now at his side he has a great specialist. I am sure that at the end of training, the two challenge each other to set-pieces.

“It is an art that you do not forget and the rivalry with the Coach cannot help but be good for the boy.”
