Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic insists “I will put my best team on the pitch” against Alessandria in the Coppa Italia.
The Rossoneri face city rivals Inter in the Derby della Madonnina this Sunday, but must first contest the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final with the Lega Pro side.
“If we win tomorrow we’ll have one foot in the final, we must prepare for it as if it was a knockout match,” Mihajlovic explained in his pre-match Press conference.

“We need to start well, we’re undoubtedly stronger than they are but it’s always the pitch that talks. We need to have the right attitude straight away.
“They are two legs that are fundamental to our season. It’s needless to say we want to reach the final, but thinking that we’re already in the final because we’re Milan is the best way to make a bad impression.
“Our goal is to avoid making Alessandria and my friend Gregucci’s run even more extraordinary. I will put my best team on the pitch, if I see someone is saving themselves for the derby, they won’t play on Sunday.
“[Mario] Balotelli and [Kevin-Prince] Boateng need to play to get back into shape, but they must earn their place. I haven’t decided yet if they’ll play, we have another training session soon.
“There will definitely be some changes, also because we’ve lost some players to injury who didn’t manage to keep up the pace for three consecutive matches. But it will be a competitive team.”
The Diavolo’s inconsistent form continued this weekend, following-up their impressive win over Fiorentina with a 2-2 draw with Empoli.
“We could’ve got more points for what we’ve shown on the pitch.
“There is consistency of results, but we’re lacking five or six points. It makes me angry, because they were deserved and we didn’t manage to get them.
“We must not lose faith and have to recover points. We think one match at a time, we must stay focused on the game with Alessandria, which is the most important match of the season so far.
“All our physical and mental energy must be directed towards Alessandria.
“If we’d beaten Empoli we would be on level points with Roma. They were two points thrown away, despite the great form of the Tuscan side.
“We’re missing the anger needed to close out a game and the same in defence.”
