Giulio Migliaccio has criticised former Palermo teammate Mauricio Pinilla for the manner of his goal celebrations at the weekend.

Chilean striker Pinilla left the Rosanero in January for an initial six-month loan deal with Cagliari and this weekend scored for the Rossoblu against the Sicilians.

“Everyone is free to do what they want and I think it is fair not to give too much weight to this issue,” reflected vice captain Migliaccio, in reference to those celebrations which have been criticised in the media.

“In his place I would not have cheered, but I’m not pandering, this would be out of respect for the fans, recognising what they have given to him in these years in which they have perhaps received less in return.

“Mauricio possibly should not have celebrated in that way, even against the President. He must also remember that he is also on loan.

“I invite fans to appreciate the players who are here, withouth thinking too much about Pinilla, who is part of the past.

“I do not know why he reacted like that, I’m just saying that the Coaches who have been here and especially the fans and the President, have all really given him a lot and maybe it wasn’t fair to them to be that happy.”
