The Rosanero have spoken of their desire to hand the player an extension before his present deal runs out in June 2013.

However, the club captain has revealed that he is in no rush to put pen to paper on a fresh agreement.

“My contract will expire and I’ll then decide,” the former Italian international commented.

“There is nothing new to report right now. I thank director Pietro Lo Monaco for his kind words and we often speak.

“But, as it stands, my decision will be to wait until June. After that I will then make a choice of what to do next.”

The 33-year-old joined Palermo in 2007 after two seasons with Benfica.
