Fabrizio Miccoli has been ruled out for two weeks with an Achilles tendon injury, confirmed Palermo.

The captain limped off during the 1-0 defeat to Bologna on Saturday and has been diagnosed with an inflammation of the Achilles tendon.

“I had already been carrying this problem for a while, but due to the emergency situation of absentees in attack, I preferred to continue playing through the pain,” he said.

“I never pull back from giving my all for the team, but now after specialist visits, I think it is right to stop for a few days rather than risk tearing the tendon and being ruled out for much longer.

“I am certain the team will do well even in my absence.”

Palermo are boosted by the return of striker Mauricio Pinilla, who could be back in regular training later this week.
