The Palermo captain is out of contract in June and the club has put the brakes on signing a new deal after he had injury problems.

Still only 33, Miccoli has offers on the table from the American MLS and clubs in Dubai.

However, he has always said it is his dream to play for hometown club Lecce, something he never achieved throughout his career.

A move to the Salentini now would be a show of love, as the club went bankrupt last year and dropped into Lega Pro – the Italian third tier.

It is reported Miccoli would vastly reduce his wages, but only go through with the move if Lecce earn promotion to Serie B this summer.
