“I’ll be honest, I don’t know anything about it and haven’t received any messages of negotiations,” agent Sergio Carrizo told FCInterNews.it.

“It’s certainly an option that both Maxi and I would really like. Spending a year to settle in a tough league like Serie A would be very welcome.

“He is well-prepared to play the type of football they have in Italy. His release clause remains what it always was (€12m) and I want to make clear that we have a great rapport with Independiente, so until a concrete proposal arrives, we won’t talk about anything official.

“We have received offers from England and Spain, something not quite so concrete from Germany, two or three messages from Italy. The world has its eyes on him.

“We are talking about a top player who can handle a big club and deserves the chance to prove himself in an important league from this season.

“If he should remain at Independiente, then that’s not a problem, as that too is a big club and aiming to go far in the Copa Libertadores.”
