Napoli are not just receiving interest from USA investors, but there is also reportedly a Mexican figure who wants to offer almost €1 billion to buy the Serie A club.

The Partenopei are currently top of the table and are through to the Champions League Round of 16, where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt in February.

One of the few clubs without significant debt, Napoli are attracting attention on the global stage with several reports in recent weeks of offers to purchase the club from President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Until now, those had largely been investors based in the USA, but now Milano Finanza claim that a Mexican businessman is prepared to bid up to €1 billion to buy Napoli.

De Laurentiis has been adamant he isn’t interested in selling, having saved the club from bankruptcy to start again in Serie C2 in 2004.

They regained promotion into Serie A in 2007 and have grown ever since.

Cinema mogul De Laurentiis has in the past suggested he turned down an offer worth €2.5 billion for Napoli.

Mexican interest was probably boosted by the presence of Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano in the squad.
