Less than 24 hours after reporting Empoli had set a deadline of Monday for the move to be resolved, Calciomercato.it claims the centre-back is no longer prepared to wait and has requested his agreement with the club to be terminated.
It would have been a coup for the Serie A minnows as the 28-year-old is a Slovenia international whom Zenit signed from Rostov in the summer of 2017 for €8m.
