Napoli midfielder Allan claims teammate Dries Mertens “is more than a champion” as Real Madrid have proved there are no “unbeatable” teams.

Mertens has scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for Napoli this season, despite playing most of the season out of position as a centre forward, while the Partenopei are preparing for a Champions League last-16 showdown with holders Real Madrid.

“Palermo this weekend? We hope the stadium is full,” the Brazilian told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“They’ve changed Coach again, so they’ll be even more fired up than usual. We hope to have a good game and keep the three points at home.

“We have our dreams, but we must keep our feet on the ground and have a very good season.

“Are Real Madrid beatable? Of course, it’s difficult to find an unbeatable team.

“I don’t believe there is one in football. It’s great because the result is never predetermined. We have to go there and play our game, hoping to progress.

“Mertens? He’s more than a champion.”
