Dries Mertens is only 90 per cent sure of starting for Napoli in tonight’s Champions League qualifier with Nice, while UEFA ban black armbands.

It kicks off at the Allianz Riviera Stadium at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) and the first leg ended 2-0 for the Partenopei.

Mertens did not train over the last few days, working only in the gym because “the boots were causing him discomfort” after a knock to the foot, said Maurizio Sarri.

This evening, the hosts of Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli – the official radio station of the club – confirmed “Mertens is alright and he has a 90 per cent chance of being in the starting XI.”

Meanwhile, the same station also report that Napoli requested the opportunity to wear black armbands following an earthquake in Ischia – near Naples – last night, which left two dead, 40 injured and hundreds homeless.

UEFA are said to have turned down the request.
