Napoli are assessing Alex Meret’s conditions ahead of their game against Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as the goalkeeper is said to have a fever.
According to Il Mattino, Meret has started to feel flu symptoms in the last few hours, which cast doubts on his presence in the Partenopei’s starting XI for their first Serie A match of 2023.
Shouldn’t the temperature go down, Meret would be replaced by 35-year-old Salvatore Sirigu, who joined Napoli last summer and still has to make an appearance with the Azzurri.
Napoli are the only unbeaten team in Serie A this season, with Meret starting all of their 15 league games so far.
