Alex Meret makes his Napoli debut today against Frosinone, but it'll be his first game since April and only his 14th Serie A match.

The 21-year-old was signed from Udinese over the summer for €22m plus up to €3m in performance-related bonuses.

He fractured a bone in his arm during the second training session and had to wait five months to play his first competitive game for the club.

He fractured a bone in his arm during the second training session and had to wait five months to play his first competitive game for the club.

Remarkably, this will be Meret's first match since SPAL suffered a 3-0 defeat to Roma on April 21.

It was during that loan at SPAL last season that he suffered a shoulder injury and missed the final weeks of the campaign.

Although the cost of his transfer was €22m plus bonuses, Meret has only ever played 13 Serie A games, all of them for SPAL.

He had to wait until January 28 to make his top flight debut, in a 1-1 draw with Inter, because before that he'd undergone surgery for a sports hernia and was ruled out for five months.

Much is expected of Meret, but he only ever had one cap for Italy at Under-21 level, a 1-1 friendly draw with Norway in March 2018.
