Paris Saint-Germain are increasingly confident Kylian Mbappé could make a miraculous recovery in time to face Atalanta in the Champions League.

The striker badly sprained his ankle during last week’s Coupe de France win over Saint-Etienne and it immediately looked serious.

Tests showed no serious ligament damage, but still enough to keep him sidelined until the quarter-final on August 12.

However, Mbappé was present for Friday night’s Coupe de la Ligue win on penalties against Lyon and walked without crutches.

Today the reports are growing on RMC Sport and L’Equipe that Mbappé hopes to recover far quicker than expected, even in time for the Atalanta clash.

Once the swelling in the ankle had gone down, more tests were performed, which showed less damage than initially thought.

PSG will begin training in Portugal for the Champions League Final Eight next Saturday and it’s hoped Mbappé could be in that session.

The 21-year-old scored 30 goals with 18 assists in just 34 PSG performances this season, including five goals and five assists in seven Champions League games.
