Former Roma boss Carlo Mazzone has hailed the eternal Francesco Totti after his brace in the 4-2 win over Fiorentina.
There were fears that Totti, at the age of 36, would be too old for the physical demands of Zdenek Zeman’s 4-3-3 system.
However, the captain has again dismissed his critics thanks to six goals in 15 League games this term. Only Alessandro Florenzi has played in as many League games in Rome during this campaign.
“I’m really happy for Francesco,” Roma fan Mazzone told TMW on Monday afternoon. “There was a period where it seemed he was a falling star, but he has silenced everyone.
“The boy is exceptional, not only as a player but also as a man. He’s a fantastic person and I’m delighted for him.
“We should all acknowledge the qualities of Totti, an important player in the history of Roma and Italian football.”
