Walter Mazzarri tells Napoli they need to come up with a better performance against Bologna on Monday and is cagey on his contract.

Today newspapers report that the Partenopei want to tie their Coach down to a new deal until June 2014, but Mazzarri is not too convinced.

“I have a contract until 2013 and intend to respect it. At this moment my only focus is on the next game. If the club wants to extend my deal, then we can talk about it in the opportune circumstances.

“I want to see the kind of aggressive Napoli that started the game against Genoa before Christmas. I didn’t like the performances against Palermo or Cesena, despite the fact we won both. I talked it over with the lads and am confident about tomorrow.

“We realise it is a difficult match, but will try to do well. Napoli do lack consistency, but we have to take it one game at a time. When we play at 100 per cent, we can beat anyone. It just depends on us.”

Mazzarri said he made a mistake in introducing new buy Eduardo Vargas too early, so the Chilean is unlikely to start against Bologna.

“Vargas has great quality, but he needs time to get to know Italian football. We have signed him now, but he is a player to get into shape for next season.”
