Inter Coach Walter Mazzarri admits he still doesn’t know whether attacking midfielder Hernanes will be fit to feature against Roma.

The 28-year-old missed last weekend’s draw with Cagliari at San Siro through injury but is hopeful of at least making the bench for the Stadio Olimpico encounter.

“He plays through the pain,” Mazzarri told his pre-match Press conference. “But if he gets tired through it, it will end with him not training well with the squad.

“We have sent him home to rest so we can see whether he will be ready for Roma.

“I will see whether I can start him or bring him off the bench later.

“Hopefully he can resolve this problem and train well during the week.”

The former Napoli boss then discussed this weekend’s match against the Giallorossi.

“Against Roma it we will be playing a team that will want to take the game to us.

“Our last game against them was strange, we didn’t play badly but lost 3-0!

“Rudi Garcia has shown himself to be a good Coach and Roma have had a much different season to the last two years, making important decisions.

“The play well, they are good with their phases of play and they are good in spaces.

“They are also good at pressing, they can do a lot of things well.

“They are all doing very well there.

“I don’t know whether they can win the Scudetto, all that interests me is Inter

“There are still 39 points left for us to play for, we hope that things can change for us for the better.

“This is the squad I have got to finish the season with, then I have got to assess everything.

“I am trying to make the right decisions for Inter.

“I don’t think a closed stadium gives us an advantage, I always say to the players that it’s just 11 against 11 on the pitch.

“The presence of the fans can be a factor but we’ll talk about it afterwards!”

Mazzarri was also questioned on his relationship with Inter President Erick Thohir.

“I think everything is normal,” he responded. “It’s probably better that the President answers, he is the one with more authority!
