Torino Coach Walter Mazzarri believes his team are on the ‘right track’ and can improve with two or three new signings.

The Granata beat Lazio 3-1 at home on Sunday afternoon, in what was effectively a dead rubber as neither side had anything to play for.

Nonetheless, they finished the season seventh in Serie A on 63 points – a new club record since Serie A went to three points for a win.

“When I arrived at Torino, I didn’t think we could build such a profound union between the team and the fans in just over a year,” Mazzarri said after the game.

“The response of the fans and their passionate support fills me with pride and makes me hopeful for the future as we’re on the right track.

“It is vital that we hold on to our best players from this season. I know that those who may have played less than others might ask to be transferred, but I want everyone to stay.

“We’ll have to make two or three signings, whom we have targeted for specific positions, and they’ll have to be good enough to compete with those 14-15 who have found more time on the pitch this year.”
