Marco Fassone has labelled Walter Mazzarri as Inter’s ‘added value’ and suggested Mauro Icardi’s new contract is not a priority.

The Nerazzurri are in  Ukraine this midweek looking to follow up on a positive 7-0 win over Sassuolo from the weekend and with their Coach having now received further backing to his credentials.

“The Coach is in his second year on our bench and he now knows the whole ‘Inter environment’,” club director general Fassone has considered to Sky Sport Italia this week.

“He can succeed in transferring and incorporating his own philosophy of play and mentality on to the players.

“The Coach is very motivated and he is now our added value.”

Fassone was asked about the status of talks with Mauro Icardi over a new contract, following his stay at the club over the summer.

“As for Mauro and his renewal, I will say that there are other deadlines that we will have to face beforehand, but we will talk about that as well.

“And Guarin? I believe in Fredy and in the fact that Mazzarri has deployed him, demonstrating the confidence of the club.

“The transfer market? The squad is complete in all departments – if the market was still open, we would not need to do anything.”
