Walter Mazzarri “made a pact” with his Inter players – including Fredy Guarin – ahead of their clash with Sassuolo.

It kicks off at San Siro on Sunday at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT), click here for a match preview.

“After the transfer window closed we made a pact based on the concepts we want going forward, even more so than in the past,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“The group is becoming solid and I can say that when my men go on the pitch, they give everything. However, what we said remains between us.”

Guarin had been on the verge of a move this summer, but Zenit, Tottenham, Manchester United and Valencia all failed to agree terms.

“We start again from scratch. I know his qualities and he seemed fired up. This is the first day of Guarin’s new career in the Inter jersey.”

The Nerazzurri began their campaign with a 0-0 draw away to Torino, in which Samir Handanovic saved a penalty and Nemanja Vidic was sent off.

“We want to unite aggression with quality and I hope to see some of that tomorrow. I like to see beautiful football, but the important thing is to believe in our plans. It’s never easy to break the deadlock in Italian football, especially when smaller teams come to San Siro.

“People say I am not a Coach who likes to push the envelope, but I think we are among the most attacking teams. Everyone likes quality, including me.”

As well as the suspended Vidic, there are injury concerns over Rodrigo Palacio, Daniel Osvaldo and Yann M’Vila.

Jonathan has been ruled out by an injury he sustained during training this week.

“On paper Osvaldo is in better shape than La Trenza, but tomorrow you will see my decision. Guarin will be on the bench.”
