Napoli need a result against Sampdoria to stay in second place, but Walter Mazzarri is concerned “the Coppa Italia extra time will take its toll.”

The Partenopei crashed out of the quarter-finals this week after an epic tussle with Inter, decided only on penalties.

“Clearly the Coppa Italia extra time will take its toll both mentally and physically in some sense, so I will probably rest a few of my first picks,” said the Coach.

“Clearly the Coppa Italia extra time will take its toll both mentally and physically in some sense, so I will probably rest a few of my first picks,” said the Coach.

“The options I have on the bench give me confidence. However, Marek Hamsik, Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi are young, so they are used to playing every three days and can start.”

Sampdoria also went out of the Coppa this week, but above all sold star striker Giampaolo Pazzini to Inter.

“There are no easy games in Serie A, let alone when faced with an organised side like Sampdoria who will want to prove they are competitive even without Pazzini.

“We must always remain concentrated and not kid ourselves that we're a big club. Only by playing with humility will we continue to impress from here to the end of the season.”
