Walter Mazzarri hailed the ‘response’ shown by Torino after his first game in charge ended in a 3-0 win over Bologna.

Goals by Lorenzo De Silvestri, M’Baye Niang and Iago Falque ensured the former Inter, Napoli and Watford boss tasted victory in his first match since replacing the sacked Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“Everything was great, there are a lot of positive emotions,” Mazzarri told reporters after the final whistle at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I didn’t think I would get so excited after so many games but that is what happened.

“We were rewarded with a great victory. I got a good response from the team, especially in the defensive area.”

Toro next face a trip to Sassuolo following the conclusion of Serie A’s winter break.
