The club’s Coach is about to enter into the final year of his current contract and whilst he indicated at the end of last season a contentment to work through 2014-15 without the prospect of a new deal, that is seen as a diminishing mindset.

However, where technical director Piero Ausilio is seen as due to meet with Mazzarri’s agent soon to lay down foundations on a renewal, the Nerazzurri are still reported as hesitant to sign it until the season has started.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reiterate that Erick Thohir is keen to assess the direction of the team in the opening few months of the season before committing to Mazzarri and that he may be willing to wait to as long as December, after the group stage of the Europa League, before deciding one way or another.

Thohir and Mazzarri will reportedly meet next in late July, when the club will be in Washington as part of their preseason tour of the US.

Reports are that one other point of disagreement between the pair is the direction that the club take in this summer transfer window, with the Coach seen as pressing for readymade players to come in and the President wanting youngsters to then be developed.
