Walter Mazzarri has echoed Aurelio De Laurentiis’ pleas for full support this weekend for Napoli, in their charge for Champions League qualification.

The Partenopei are in pole position to secure the third and final place in the table to enter UEFA’s primary competition, currently sitting level with Udinese on 58 points but with a superior head-to-head record.

Even in this advantageous position, Mazzarri believes that the fans can play a key role in determining the club’s desired outcome, starting with this weekend’s trip north to Bologna.

“We will try for the Champions League until the end,” declared the tactician on Sky Sports.

“I’d like to see the stadium in Bologna, as it was at the San Paolo, full of Azzurri and our fans. It’s important to the boys and is probably essential for our performance.

“So, hopefully we can find this climate that usually is reserved for our home games.”

Ezequiel Lavezzi celebrated his birthday with his teammates today.

“I gave him good wishes. I’m not very communicative with the boys, but today I happened to be around and willingly gave him my best wishes.”
