“Rolando Maran has given his team a clear tactical identity and they have at times not picked up the points that they deserved to this season,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“I think they are already safe from the drop and can therefore play without fear. We must be wary, because Cagliari have players with great movement off the ball and can push up from midfield, such as Nicolò Barella, to support Leonardo Pavoletti and Joao Pedro.”
Torino go into this game without their star striker Belotti, who is suspended, and injured Iago Falque, so it’s a big opportunity for Zaza.
“He needs to just relax and play the way he knows how. He mustn’t be apprehensive or too eager to overdo it, otherwise it becomes counter-productive. He has nothing to prove.”
Mazzarri shrugged off suggestions Toro are too defensive, insisting “being balanced and having a solid defence does not make you defensive. We create the chances, but aren’t finishing them off lately and that is a fault, not by design.
“Our limitation is that we need to create so many scoring opportunities before we finish them. We’re not clinical, as we saw against Parma and Fiorentina, games we deserved to win comfortably and didn’t.”
