Stefano Mauri’s lawyer says that the former Lazio captain wants a two-year deal without a reduced salary.

It was reported earlier today that the 35-year-old was set to sign a one-year contract with the Biancoceleste once President Claudio Lotito returned from holiday this week.

The midfielder was released by the club at the end of the season amid match fixing allegations, but is set for a return after being cleared of all charges.

“We expect the meeting with President Lotito will be tomorrow or the day after,” lawyer Matteo Melandri told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Salary halved? I don’t know where these rumours came from, but what I can say is that we will seek to ensure that the conditions remain as they were last year, possibly with a two-year contract.

“At the moment everything has stopped, we’ll see how the meeting goes and then we will assess the situation.”
