According to reports in Italy, Neal Maupay has agreed to a Salernitana transfer, but Brighton and Hove Albion are still discussing the fee.

The French striker turns 26 next month and has been at the club since 2019.

His contract is due to expire in June 2023 and so far progress has not been made on an extension, especially with growing competition for places.

News of Salernitana’s proposal for Maupay already emerged on Friday via The Athletic.

Now Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the player has given the all-clear for a move to Serie A, but the clubs have not agreed on a fee.

The offer is believed to be €7-8m plus add-ons, whereas Brighton are demanding €15m to sell their centre-forward.

He found the net eight times in 32 Premier League appearances last term and was Brighton’s top scorer in the competition that season.

Maupay also scored eight in 2020-21 and 10 in the 2019-20 campaign.
