Alessandro Matri insists Lazio have “no excuses” against Sassuolo, despite a lengthy injury list.

The Biancocelesti are without captain Lucas Biglia, star defender Stefan De Vrij and Italian international Marco Parolo, among others.

“It will be a difficult game against Sassuolo,” Matri told reports at the official opening of a new Lazio store.

“The first game after the international break is always difficult. Anyway, we’re not looking for excuses, we’ll be ready.

“The injuries? These things happen, whoever plays will be ready. It will require everyone to sacrifice, we have to continue as we have been, because we’ve got quality.

“After the [5-0] defeat to Napoli, we’ve sent out a strong signal in the League and the Europa League.

“We’re in a good position [third] now, and that helps us to prepare for games.”

One player who should be available for the match is striker Miroslav Klose, who is fit again after going off injured in the Champions League play-off with Bayer Leverkusen.

“The Coach [Stefano Pioli] will decide, Miro and I are both available. Of course, I’ll try and make it difficult for him to leave me out.”
