“I was the last person who could give him problems,” Matrix told Sky Sport Italia.
“Just look at what happened to him at Chelsea, at Napoli or at Real Madrid. At the end of the day, history does the talking.

“I say some harsh things, but I am not upset with him, as he arrived when my career was nearly over.
“I understand his situation, but at times it is better to put yourself in the shoes of those who don’t get to play and try to consider how they feel. That is something Benitez regularly does not do.”
