Bologna full-back Adam Masina was born in Morocco, but feels “Italian down to the bone” after his first Under-21 call.

He was a last-minute addition to the squad for tomorrow’s European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Serbia, as his international transfer paperwork only just came through.

“In the last two years my life has changed completely. If I think back now and remember I was a striker, it makes me smile,” Masina told VivoAzzurro.

“The change of position was fundamental, representing a real turning point in my career and my life.

“I’ve found a wonderful squad here and it’ll be a great game against Serbia. There are three very important points up for grabs.

“I am truly very close to Italy and feel Italian down to the bone. My dream is to one day lift the World Cup for Italy, just as Fabio Cannavaro did in 2006.”
